The University Past & Present

The Harokopio University of Athens was founded in 1929 by the national benefactor Panagis Harokopos. It is a public-spirited institution, operating in its current legal form since 1990 and continuing the tradition of mobilizing private funding through the “Harokopos foundation”. It is considered a small, young fast-growing, research-oriented University.

The main campus is located in two hectares of an estate in the Municipality of Kallithea, Athens, and is recognized and awarded as an exemplary studying environment. Its history is unique, as it has evolved and been distinguished in a very short time, featuring curricula based on modern scientific trends and international standards.

The undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Harokopio are expanding in three faculties:
i) The School of Environment, Geography, and Applied Economics,
ii) The School of Digital Technology and
iii) The School of Health Science and Education.

The university has 4,000 students, of which 1,000 are postgraduate students.

Around its historic, recently renovated main building, unfurl three modern ones, boasting welcoming facilities and state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructures.
